Grenzlandring Wegberg – A lap at the old street circuit

Change language: Dutch (Nederlands)

A photo tour of a lap at the former street circuit Grenzlandring, today the road around Wegberg (Germany). These photos are made at evening in the spring of 2004, by Herman Liesemeijer.

We start our lap at the old Start/Finish on the ring road of Wegberg.

This kink brings us to the first long straight…

The “Erkelenzer Gerade” (Erkelenz Straight).

We’re still in the road from Wegberg to Erkelenz.

After the long straight comes the next corner, “Beecker Kurve” (Beeck Corner).

We turn around Wegberg…

After Beecker Corner another long straight, the “Reydter Gerade” (Reydt Straight).

Over the railroad bridge.

The entry to the very long “Roermonder Kurve” (Roermond Corner).

First we cross a bridge underneath another road…

And then we cross the railroad again!

At the end of the Roermonder Kurve they modified the road to connect a new intersection.
This is also the site of the 1952 accident where 13 spectators where killed.

And we’re back at Start/Finish.
