Masaryk Circuit – A lap at the pre-war Brno Circuit

Change language: Dutch (Nederlands)

A photo tour around the 29.142 km (18.109 Miles)  long first version of the “Masaryk Circuit“, near the city of Brno in the Czech Republic Made by Herman Liesemeijer in the summer of 2010.

We will follow the 18.109 Miles long red course on the map above. The driving direction was anti-clockwise.

The old Start/Finish straight, were we start our lap at the Masaryk Circuit.

The pit exit.

The first corner of the Masaryk Circuit used to be here. Because they built a new highway here, this site have been changed dramatically.

After a detour we arrive at this peaceful country road.

We turn right around the restaurant in the village of Kohoutovice.

One of the many corners in this twisty section of the Masaryk Circuit.

Full throttle over the intersection!

We arrive at Žebětín.

We turn right on the junction.

And we go uphill.

Here we pass the new circuit.

Two of the many corners at this great section of the Masaryk Circuit. Unfortunately this section was very difficult to photograph.

At the inside of this hairpin, the last from an almost endless series of corners, is a kart track on the inside today!

We’r arrived in the village of Ostrovačice, the farthest point of the Masaryk Circuit…

From here we drive back to Brno.

This is the beginning of the fastest section of the Masaryk Circuit!

The right kink was constructed later to connect a new road. The original course was going straight and still reachable when you turn left here…

And here we are at the best conserved part of the old track. Looks like time stood still here…

Imagine how it was when te Mercesses and Auto Unions where drifting through this corner!

Original the straight continued here, but the old road had to make place for a new highway. The road on the left hand was constructed later to connect the farmhouses.

After a detour we arrive at this part with bricks. In the old day’s a big part of the street circuit was paved with these bricks!

A few Miles further there’s asphalt again.

The section from Ostrovačice back to Brno was the fastest part of the track with long straghts and some very fast kinks.

At high speed through the village of Bosonohy, the last village before the start/finish area.

Almost back…

And we’re back at Start/Finish. Here ends our lap at the old Masaryk Circuit.
